It does happen...we all get injured at some point in our life. I happen to have bad ankles and seem to injure them a couple times a year. I have found that the main problem with this is that people think because I am a personal trainer I should never get injured, and because I am injured I am doing something wrong as a trainer. This is just not true. As a trainer I have a lot of knowledge about the correct way to workout and what to do to help prevent injury. But I can not stop things like a sprained ankle in a basketball game or a broken wrist from falling down stairs.
Enough on that, now to what I am supposed to be writing about. How do you stay in shape while you are injured? First things first, make sure to take at least 72 hours to give your body time to start the healing process. See a doctor and get the ok before you start any type of exercise . Now with most injuries there are options of working out your body without using the part that is injured. In this article below it gives several injuries and what you can do to workout while healing from that injury. Take a look and remember to always talk things through with your doctor before you start any workout routine while injured.
